Red Sea Hospital opens, providing advanced healthcare to support a world-class tourism destination in Saudi Arabia
Red Sea Global and Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Services Group have opened Red Sea Hospital at The Red Sea destination on Saudi Arabia’s western coast, in a move linking the expansion of major tourism projects with advanced healthcare infrastructure serving residents, employees, visitors and surrounding communities. The opening took place on Thursday, 17 September 2026, under the patronage and in the presence of Minister of Health Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, adding a fully integrated medical facility to the destination’s essential services network.
What does Red Sea Hospital offer?
According to Red Sea Global and the Saudi Press Agency, the hospital provides emergency, inpatient, outpatient and specialist services, as well as surgical facilities and digital health services. Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Services Group is responsible for managing and operating the hospital with medical staff and advanced technologies, while the developer confirmed that the facility is fully licensed by the Ministry of Health and designed in accordance with local and international standards.
The hospital is a key component of Red Sea Health, Red Sea Global’s healthcare system. The plan extends beyond the hospital itself and also includes six pharmacies and a dedicated medical emergency services system capable of responding rapidly and transporting cases to the hospital, enhancing the destination’s readiness to address daily healthcare needs and emergencies.
Healthcare as part of the tourism experience
The opening’s significance extends beyond the addition of a new treatment facility. As Saudi Arabia’s tourism destinations expand and visitor numbers rise, the ability to provide accessible, advanced healthcare becomes an essential part of the quality and safety of the experience. The health minister pointed to the Kingdom’s tourism sector’s rapid and qualitative growth, saying that the development of integrated destinations reflects the level of ambition and quality Saudi Arabia is witnessing.
For his part, John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global, said that a global destination is built not only on resorts and experiences, but also requires infrastructure and services that allow visitors, residents and employees to live and work with confidence and peace of mind. According to the company, the partnership brings together its expertise in destination development with Al Habib Group’s experience in healthcare, medical management and digital health.
An integrated system on the western coast
The Red Sea destination began welcoming guests in 2023 and has continued to expand its resorts, infrastructure and services since then. According to the latest data from Red Sea Global, the destination currently has 11 operating resorts and hotels, with six additional resorts expected to open on Shura Island in the coming months. This growth makes the presence of an integrated medical system an important factor in the destination’s readiness and the sustainability of its operations.
The hospital’s opening follows a partnership announced in September 2025 to manage and operate the Red Sea and AMAALA hospitals, as part of an effort to build a healthcare network serving new tourism destinations. With Red Sea Hospital entering operation, the partnership is moving from planning to the actual delivery of services in a model that brings tourism, healthcare and infrastructure together within a single project.
