Ceer to Unveil Its First Electric Sedan and SUV on September 21 in a New Step for Saudi Arabia’s Automotive Industry

English versionالعربية

Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s first electric vehicle brand and original equipment manufacturer, is preparing to unveil its first two major electric vehicle models on September 21, 2026. One will be a sedan and the other an SUV, marking the company’s transition from development and construction to the market debut of its products.

The announcement is particularly significant for Saudi Arabia’s automotive industry, as it comes at a time when the Kingdom is expanding an integrated electric vehicle ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, supply chains, advanced technologies and the development of local talent. According to published information, Ceer is designing, engineering and manufacturing vehicles for the Saudi and regional markets, with plans to begin production at its industrial complex in King Abdullah Economic City.

When Ceer’s First Cars Will Be Unveiled

Arab News, citing the Saudi Press Agency, reported that Ceer has set September 21 as the date for unveiling its first major electric vehicles. The initial lineup will include a sedan and an SUV, giving the company a direct entry into two major and important segments of the automotive market.

Ceer was established in 2022 as a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund and Foxconn, with the aim of building electric vehicles designed to meet the needs of the region. The company also benefits from technology and industrial partnerships with global companies in electric systems, components and advanced manufacturing.

From Development to Local Manufacturing

The most significant development in Ceer’s story is the project’s transition from plans and partnerships to preparations for actual production. In January 2026, the company announced a partnership with Dürr to equip one of the automotive industry’s most advanced paint shops at its complex in King Abdullah Economic City. At the time, it confirmed that the project was moving toward starting vehicle production in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Ceer’s complex relies on advanced automation and manufacturing technologies, with a focus on improving production efficiency and reducing energy and material consumption, as well as providing the flexibility to introduce new models and expand production capacity in the future.

Why the News Matters to the Saudi Economy

Developing a local automotive brand is not only about launching a new product. It also involves creating a complete economic value chain that begins with suppliers, components and logistics services and extends to engineering and technical jobs and after-sales services. Ceer aims to raise its local content rate to 45% by 2034, as part of efforts to expand the contribution of advanced manufacturing to the Saudi economy.

According to published estimates, the company is expected to contribute approximately 30 billion riyals to gross domestic product and support the creation of nearly 30,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly. These plans are also part of a broader effort to develop the electric vehicle sector in the Kingdom, alongside other investments in manufacturing, infrastructure and smart mobility.
