Saudi laboratory with more than 100 devices reconstructs accidents and improves the accuracy of transport safety investigations

The Transport Safety Engineering Laboratory at the National Transportation Safety Center is strengthening the Kingdom’s capacity to conduct technical accident investigations through an advanced system for analyzing evidence, reconstructing accident sequences and developing safety recommendations in line with international practices and standards.
More than 100 devices and 16 engineering programs
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the laboratory operates an integrated system comprising more than 100 devices and technical instruments, in addition to 16 technical and engineering programs. Specialists collect evidence from accident sites, vehicles and their components, then document, examine and analyze it to transform the data and materials obtained into reliable information.
Accurate accident reconstruction
The laboratory’s capabilities help determine the causes of major accidents and reconstruct their sequences, supporting investigation teams in reaching more accurate technical conclusions and then translating the findings into actionable recommendations to improve safety across different modes of transport.
National support for the safety system
The laboratory serves as an advanced technical arm of the National Transportation Safety Center, reflecting the Kingdom’s expanding use of engineering technologies and data to prevent accidents, rather than relying solely on analyzing their aftermath.
