Hermès presented its women’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection in Paris in a show that reimagined the relationship between the leather craftsmanship for which the house is known and the lightness of summer clothing. The show took place as part of Paris Fashion Week, which runs through October 6, with a clear focus on sheer fabrics, open-knit yarns and leather crafted in ways that give it a sense of movement rather than rigidity.

Hermès seeks lightness

According to coverage of the show, artistic director of women’s collections Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski steered the collection toward more breathable materials. Open-knit shirts and delicate mesh dresses appeared alongside pieces combining fabric with fine leather embroidery. Leather skirts and dresses with slits also featured, giving traditionally weighty pieces greater flexibility of movement.

The house did not abandon its signature accessories; cream-colored leather bags with mesh details, simple leather sandals and tall boots appeared in some looks. Against the subdued shades, vivid colors such as orange and yellow stood out, giving the collection visual contrast with the white show space.

A show inside Paris’s Republican Guard headquarters

The show was held in a white space inside the headquarters of the French Republican Guard, and Hermès officially presented it on the evening of Saturday, October 3, Paris time. The house’s official website confirms that the Spring/Summer 2027 collection was shown on that date, while Reuters documented details of the cuts, materials, accessories and attendees.

The show comes at an important stage for Hermès: Vanhee-Cybulski has led the house’s women’s collections since 2014, and the brand is also preparing to present its first haute couture collection next January, in a move that expands its presence beyond ready-to-wear and leather accessories.

Spring/Summer 2027 shows continue in the French capital through October 6, with the participation of other major houses. This year’s Paris season comes as the luxury industry faces a slowdown in demand, increasing the importance of shows as a platform for highlighting each house’s craftsmanship and distinctive identity.

In Hermès’ case, the message was clear: leather remains a central element, but its visual and practical presence is softened through open-knit fabrics, fluid cuts and summery colors. The result is a collection that connects the house’s heritage in leather craftsmanship with more flexible clothing suited to a warm season.
